Reviews for Tom's - Sarawak
Review highlights
Based on 301 reviewsTom's restaurant in Kuching is widely recognized for its upscale ambiance, offering a refined dining experience suitable for special occasions, business meetings, or intimate gatherings. Patrons consistently praise the quality and presentation of the food, with standout dishes such as lamb shank, pasta, and chicken cordon bleu frequently mentioned for their flavor and careful preparation. Additionally, Tom's cakes are noted for their unique local twist, providing an appealing alternative to more common dessert options. While the overall culinary experience is well-regarded, the pricing is often described as premium, which some diners feel may not always align with portion satisfaction. Despite this, the combination of elegant atmosphere, attentive service, and diverse menu options contribute to Tom's reputation as a preferred destination for fine dining in the region.
High end semi bistro/ fine dining experience. Great place if you’re looking for a proper date venue with your loved one but don’t expect a fulfilling meal. It’s an experience of fine food, wine and desserts. Cakes here are a great alternative to Secret Recipe with more local twist. Price point is high.
Very good food as always! Lamb Shank and the Carbonara Pasta is excellent!
This “high-end” restaurant has been around for a decade or two & has always been recommended by family & friends ever since they existed in town. I have not tried their restaurant but been having their cakes for birthdays in the past which is nice but getting more expensive by the day. Last month I finally made my way and visited them for the first time & I couldn’t understand the hype. Aft my visit my verdict is that it’s just a regular western (or fusion) restaurant that’s highly priced. The food taste are alright, but was very disappointed with the Caesar salad with no croutons or visible Parmesan (maybe they’re all blended in the dressing though I didn’t taste it), small size at Rm30. The average price for our dinner was rm68+ each (4 mains, 1 salad, 1 drink, 1 cake slice). So be ready to pay a higher price for a regular western plate which can be found at other restaurants in town at a more reasonable rate. Point is: It’s ok to pay more if the food warrants the quality, which isn’t the case here.
High end restaurant but with a great selection of food. Had the Chicken Cordon Bleu and it was delicious, juicy and cook to perfection. However, the price is on the higher side. Can be a good place for business meetings or gathering.
Excellent food. Ordered the lasagna and soft shell cream sauce pasta and would highly recommend. Was thinking why this place wasn’t packed out! Would definitely come again
